Strong chemical odor
I was very dissatisfied with these mats. They have an extremely strong odor. According to customer service, sometimes the factory doesn’t allow sufficient time for the lacquer to dry. They recommended airing them in a garage for 2-3 weeks. I have never experienced this before with Pimpernel placemats.

Treat these mats gently!
Be careful how you treat these placemats! My first set got scratched, and showed water stains, and even peeled. When I couldn't stand to look at them any more, I ordered a new set. I treat these gently, and I love them.
